Obituary

Bruce McGarvey, loving husband, father, and friend to many went peacefully in his sleep at home on June 12, 2026. Husband to Judy McGarvey, father to Brad, Doug, and Jill. Grandfather to Ryan and Meaghan, he will be greatly missed by all. Bruce was active in many organizations, including the First United Methodist Church, the Boy Scouts, local Genealogy Society, and local Model Railroading club. Bruce was always very supportive of Judy's activities in the Oregon Old-Time Fiddlers and frequently accompanied her to these activities around he state. They were a good team, supporting each other in many other activities. He was known for his welcoming and friendly demeanor, and had many friends in varying social strata. He loved to tell “Bad Dad Jokes” and often had several prepared for any occasion. After completing college, Bruce served in the US Army Aviation as a pilot flying various airplanes and helicopters. He worked as a forester with the Bureau of Land Management until his retirement in 1989. He managed the Boy Scout camp at Lake of the Woods for 7 years in Oregon and remained active with a local scouting group. Bruce was responsible for organizing the local model Railroading Show every year at the Armory, and always ensured that this was a well-attended and organized event. He was active in the local Genealogy Society and enjoyed researching his family history. There will be a Celebration of Life on July 6, 2026 at 10am at the First United Methodist Church in Medford. Bruce is at peace in his Heavenly Home and will be interred at Eagle Point National Cemetery.
