Earl Alfred
Miller Jr.
May 4, 1935 – April 12, 2026
Earl A. Miller Jr. of Medford, Oregon went to be with his family and the Lord on
Sunday April 12, 2026. Born in Huntingdon, Pennsylvania on May 4 th , 1935, to Earl Sr.
and Evelyn Miller, he was just 2 weeks shy of his 91 st birthday.
The oldest of four children, Earl and his siblings were raised in Long Beach, California.
The family owned and operated ‘Long Beach Fountain Service.’ Earl showed an
aptitude for mechanical things and was active in the family business. He liked to build
and repair bicycles, motorcycles and cars. He enjoyed riding anything with a motor
and began racing cars at courses around Southern California, as a young adult. Above
all, Earl liked going fast.
After graduating from Long Beach’s Polytechnic High School – where he received a
vocational certification in auto mechanics – Earl enlisted in the Navy reserves and
spent four years as part of a submarine unit in Southern California. He then joined
the Army and spent two years on active duty stationed in Germany. Earl took full
advantage of being in Europe and traveled a great deal while on leave.
After honorably discharging from the Army, Earl returned to Long Beach and married
his sweetheart Dorothy Fraser. Together they had 2 daughters – Bonnie and Tammy.
Earl and Dorothy spent the early years of their marriage in Southern California before
moving to Phoenix, Oregon where they purchased a small hobby farm. The couple
eventually divorced and Earl raised his then teenaged daughters into adulthood.
A true entrepreneur, Earl owned/operated several small businesses and later owned
rental properties. He retired at 58 and spent his last 30 plus years building and
driving roadsters (modified 1929 to 1935 Ford Model Ts), riding motorcycles, and
restoring classic bicycles.
Earl was preceded in death by his parents, and two siblings Helen and Kenny. He is
survived by one brother Billy (Claudette); daughters Bonnie Ropog and Tammy Miller-
Rembert (Dan); grandkids Rachel, Nicole, Emily, and Rocky (Amber); and three great
grandkids. He was funny, feisty and quick witted until the end and he will be missed.
